New to the Mediterranean diet?
Begin with the ingredients that make this way of eating so enjoyable: colourful vegetables, olive oil, fish, herbs, nuts and simple home cooking.

MediterraneanDiet.co.uk is here to help you bring Mediterranean flavour to everyday meals. Fresh ingredients, simple cooking and a little less reliance on starch are at the heart of our approach.
If you’ve ever asked these questions, you’re in the right place:
Begin with the ingredients that make this way of eating so enjoyable: colourful vegetables, olive oil, fish, herbs, nuts and simple home cooking.
Explore free articles, practical meal ideas and everyday shopping tips. A free starter ebook, a paid guidebook and an online video course are in preparation.
Turn the ideas into meals you recognise. Learn how to balance your plate, choose ingredients and make room for less pasta, rice, bread and potatoes.
Choose one familiar meal. Add more vegetables, include a protein source and try a smaller portion of starch. Build from there at a pace that suits you.
It’s easy for bread, pasta, rice or potatoes to become the biggest part of a meal. We start somewhere different: vegetables, a protein source, olive oil, herbs and plenty of flavour.
Less starch can still mean a proper, satisfying meal. Think lemon fish with roasted vegetables, a Greek-style salad with eggs, or courgettes with a rich tomato sauce.
This is our lower-carb adaptation of Mediterranean eating. Traditional versions often include wholegrains and pulses; you can adjust portions to your own needs.
